Christopher Swartbooi
It’s me, Christopher Swartbooi. I thought I must write this letter to thank you.
Thank you very much for the wheelchair that you gave to me, can’t find the right words to thank you.
To tell the truth, you saved me. Before, I couldn’t do anything, I had to ask someone to help me to do things and I had to pay that person for helping me.
Now I can do things on my own, I don’t have to ask anyone to help.
I’m speechless.
My dearest Sir and Madam, Thanks a lot.
Lita Velem

The Rachel Swart Fund came to his rescue. The mattress was bought for him.
Thank you letter - Merewent Cheshire Home
Thank you most sincerely for the donation of 5 wheelchairs for our residents.
The Rachel Swart Fund has been very supportive over the years towards our disabled Home.
We are a Home for disabled persons and currently have 34 disabled residents, however we can accomodate up to 40 residents. Our Home provides each resident with medical care daily laundry, bathing, toiletting, hospital visits, meals and total care. Therefore we have a need in all aspects as our daily expenses are high following the recession and our country's economic state.
Donations and sponsors are always welcome and I can assure you whatever is given will be put to good use. Gestures of this nature are far and few between and we are therefore proud to have you as our hounoured Cheshire friend.
Once again, thank you and we trust that we have your continued support.
Yours in Community Upliftment,
Manager
Fred van Deventer
We received an application from Louise van Deventer for her son Fred in 2010. Fred is a young man with severe cerebral palsy. His mother has an amazing love for her son and determination to give him the very best in life. Fred lives in Cara Caritas Home for Disabled. In one of her letters to us she explained her situation -"I am not a single mother by choice, my husband was a good man and father; he worked as a flight electrician and died in an aeroplane accident over Angola in 1995. My son comes home one weekend a month as this is the only time I can get someone to come help lift and carry him. I'm a small women and I cannot and will not put him in danger of falling or getting hurt due to my inefficient strength. It breaks my heart, but I have found a good home for him."

Both children has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. They attend the CP Clinic at Red Cross Hospital for regular check-ups. The therapist at the clinic approached the Rachel Swart Fund for assistance with rollators for these two children because they were desperate to walk. Both children, Linam (5) and Tristan (4) received rollators from the Fund soon after applications and motivation letters were submitted.

There are some times when I still cannot believe that I am actually sitting in a motorised wheelchair and that I am in control of where I go and when I go.

Please accept my sincerest thanks and appreciation for the very friendly and professional manner in which you assisted me in acquiring a wheelchair for Mr Samson Kilobit, a member of our Church. I see myself as extremely privileged - the wheelchair has already made such a difference in my life just in the past week that I have had it. A whole new world has opened up for me. It is hard to imagine how I managed before.

'I was totally speechless as it was the biggest surprise I have ever had in my life. What was most surprising is that it was from someone I did not even know. You must be very special, considering me for such a gift. If it was possible, I would have jumped out of my old chair from joy and surprise.'

My life was completely changed after you gave me the electric wheelchair. I managed to get work at the Department of Labour, Provincial Office. In the past, I was unable to compete in the open labour market because I was immobile.'
