Farouk
Farouk Gordon is a 33 year old gentleman who was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy which is a genetic disease that affects the muscles of the body. Physically he is very weak, is wheelchair bound, and relies on others for his daily needs and for getting around. With his last assessment at the hospital, it was recommended that he needed a specialized motorized wheelchair to suit his needs.
The Rachel Swart Fund together with Farouk's family and the community, including the Minstrels, raised enough funds to place the order for the wheelchair on 25 February 2009.
